 Beijing, June 4th--This afternoon, the MOFCOM and the Organizing Committee of the CIFIT jointly held a press conference of the 11th CIFIT. Mr. Chen Jian, Assistant Minister of MOFCOM and Standing Deputy Director General of the Organizing Committee of CIFIT, Mr. Ye Shuangyu, Vice Governor of Fujian, and Ms. Huang Ling, Vice Mayor of Xiamen City and Director General of the Operational Dept. of CIFIT attended the conference. Journalists from Xinhua Agency, People's Daily, CCTV, Economy Daily, Reuters, Bloomberg, Dow-Jones, and other 40 news agencies took part in the event. Mr. Chen Jian said, “With persistent efforts, CITIF has developed into a large-scale international two-way investment promotion event attracting foreign investment to China and steering Chinese enterprises to launch overseas investments. As an international two-way investment promotion platform commanding extensive influence in the world and delivering strong practical results, CIFIT has attracted the attention and involvement of government agencies and business communities from more and more countries and regions. Over the past 10 years, CIFIT has drawn nearly 100,000 business people from 144 countries and regions; more than 1,000 overseas organizations (enterprises) from nearly 70 countries and regions have exhibited at the fair; and contracts on more than 13,000 projects on “attracting FDI” and “going global” have been signed at the fair.” Mr. Chen Jian also declared that, “In order to further deepen cooperation in six major fields – trade, investment, agriculture and fishery, tourism and transportation, finance and human resources, as specified in the Plan of Action at the First China-Caribbean Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum. During the CIFIT this year, the Second China-Caribbean Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum, themed around “deepening economic and trade cooperation and achieving common development” will be jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.” Governor Ye Shuangyu said, “Fujian provincial authorities and Xiamen municipal authorities attach extreme importance to the preparation work of this year’s CIFIT and have held many meetings and given a lot of guidance. Nowadays, Fujian Province is advancing the building of the Economic Zone on the Western Coast of the Taiwan Straits under the national framework to develop East China at a faster pace. Our society is stable and economic development is boomed, unveiling limited business opportunities. As the sponsor and the host of the CIFIT, Fujian Province and Xiamen City will follow the guidelines given by Vice Premier Wuyi and that of the MOFCOM to make the fair better one year than the other. We will improve our services and conduct the preparatory work in a practical and efficient manner. We sincerely hope that friends from the business communities and the press will continue to show your concern about the fair.
