 Hong Kong, June 6th, 2007---This midday, a promotional luncheon of the 11th CIFIT, which was jointly sponsored by MOFCOM, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R., and the Organizing Committee of CIFIT, was held in Hong Kong. Deputy Director General of the Organizing Committee, Mayor of Xiamen Liu Cigui, on behalf of the organizing committee, released the new futures, new contents and the preparation of the event. And he, on behalf of the Xiamen, zealously invited the Hong Kong friends to attend the CIFIT, visit Xiamen. According to the sources of CIFIT organizing committee, 88% booths of the 11th CIFIT had been booked. Enterprises from 31 countries and regions and over 100 IPAs and chambers of commerce from 48 countries and regions had confirmed to attend the CIFIT. Mayor Liu Cigui said, “So far, preparations for the 11th CIFIT have kicked into high gear. Therefore, I’d like to take advantage of this opportunity to brief you on our preparations for the CIFIT. Overall, the CIFIT will have ‘five major highlights’. The CIFIT will enjoy a high-level participation, present a high-level economic and trade forum, and present a rich variety of special pavilion day events.” He also indicated, “As the organizer and host of the CIFIT, Xiamen will further improve its exhibition and convention services, business services and site management, and provide efficient logistical supporting in terms of catering, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing and safety, to ensure that all participants are fully satisfied. Hong Kong and Xiamen enjoy very close economic and trade ties. Such ties have a very solid foundation and brilliant prospects for further development. Hong Kong is Xiamen’s largest source of overseas investment. As of April this year, Hong Kong has launched 2,891 investment projects in Xiamen, valued at USD 11.87 billion. Hong Kong is Xiamen’s third largest export destination after Japan and the United States; Hong Kong is also a major trading partner of Xiamen. Hong Kong’s business community and media have consistently provided strong support for all sessions of the CIFIT. “ During the luncheon, Deputy Director General of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R. Mr. Zheng Kunsheng, Deputy Director General of the Investment Promotion Agency of MOFCOM P.R.C. Mr. Gu Jie, and Ms. LAI, WAI MING LINDA, Deputy Secretary for Hong Kong Commerce, Industry and Technology Bureau also delivered speeches respectively. They indicated that the CIFIT has become a large international investment promotion platform aiming at bilateral investment cooperation. They hoped Hong Kong entrepreneurs could take full advantage of this platform to develop bilateral investment and seek cooperation opportunities between Hong Kong and Mainland at higher rank and wider field. |
