With the approval of the State Council, the first tariff reduction of the Free Trade Agreement between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (hereinafter referred to as China and Pakistan Free Trade Agreement) was implemented to Pakistan as from July 1st, 2007. Matters of concern are listed as follows: 1. As from July 1st, 2007, 3975 import commodities (8-digit tax items) shall be subject to the conventional tariff, which is lower than the most favored nation rate. (see Appendix of details) 2. The import commodities, originating from Pakistan and enjoying the conventional tariff of China and Pakistan Free Trade Agreement, shall be investigated and confirmed with the origin according to the Measures for Origin Administration of the Agreement between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. 3. As from July 1st, 2007, while declaring the import commodities that originate from Pakistan and enjoy the conventional tariff, the receiver or his deputy shall write “07” in the “Favored Trade Agreement Code” column on the bill of entry. Other columns shall still be filled in according to the requirements of the Announcement No.69, 2005 of the General Administration of Customs. 4. The Announcement No.68, 2005 of the General Administration of Customs shall be abolished as from July 1st, 2007.
