Office (bureau) of culture in all province, autonomous regions and municipalities, and bureau of culture of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing municipal troops of administrative enforcement of law of culture market: For purpose of cracking down illegal import of audiovisual products, related issues are now announced as follows: A healthy import order of audiovisual products will not only promote the sound development of the domestic audiovisual industry, bust also be conducive to implementing international committeemen and safeguard national cultural security. Importers can only import overseas (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan region) audiovisual products with permission of Ministry of Couture. From Jul 20 to the end of 2006, related departments will take tangible measures to crack down sternly illegal import of audiovisual products. At the first stage, from Jul 20 to Aug 20, publishing units undertaking the import of audiovisual products shall stop all illegal operations and submitted the illegal audiovisual products to office (bureau) of culture of the province, autonomous regions and municipalities to destroy. At the second stage, from Aug 20 to the end of 2006, publishing units that continue the import of audiovisual products will be sternly penalized. Related departments may suspend import application acceptance or even revoke business license of audiovisual product. As from Aug 20, Ministry of Commerce and all local cultural and administrative institutions of law enforcement will carry out regular inspection on a part of publishing units undertaking the import of audiovisual products. Ministry of Culture will print and issue catalogue of approved audiovisual products. Organs of administrative enforcement of law of culture market at all levels shall attach great importance to work of cracking down the import of illegal audiovisual products and take tangible measures to examine and rectify the illegal operations.
