In order to further crack down on making and selling counterfeit goods, set the rural market in order and effectively safeguard the lawful rights and interests of the peasant masses, the general office of leading group for National cracking down on IPR infringement and making and marketing counterfeit and shoddy goods, SDRC, MIIT, MOA, MOFCOM, SAIC, AQSIQ, GAPP and SDA jointly issued a notice on making plans for special action on key products in rural market in the first quarter of 2012.

The special action will center on home-appliances, foodstuff, chemical products of everyday use, and material for agricultural production. The targets are illegal workshops that make fake and shoddy home-appliances, foodstuff, and chemical products of everyday, and material for agricultural production, and wholesale market, bazaars and sales outlets at and below the county level. And the action will cover enhancing law enforcement on production, strengthening market control and law enforcement, fight against criminals, and step up publicity of false differentiating and rights protection. The goals are to investigate in making and selling counterfeit goods in rural markets, punish criminals doing harms to farmers, outlaw forgery mills, exposure processing on a batch of illegal production and trading enterprises, step up publicity of false differentiating and rights protection and improve farmers’ rights protection awareness and ability.

The notice requests that local leading group offices should make an overall coordination of the rectification, supervise the implementation of the tasks; relevant departments should launch works in accordance with the focus and the division of the rectification; and local leading group offices should make a joint effort to enhance cooperation in law enforcement. Local governments should strengthen supervision and inspection to implement the work while local leading group offices should work with relevant departments to smooth reporting channels, mobilize social forces to participate in the monitoring to ensure the effectiveness of the rectification.
