Sales Volume of China’s Automobiles Has Surpassed 18 Million again in 2011

The growth of China’s automobiles market shows a slow steady downward trend. The sales volume has surpassed 18 million. Main features are as follows:

Sales volume of China’s automobiles maintains a steady growth while drops significantly. Sales volume of China’s automobiles is 18.505 million, up by 2.45% than that of the same period. Influenced by the factors such as national macro-control, the withdraw of policies to encourage consumption, high base in 2010 and property-purchasing limitations in Beijing and other cities, the growth rate of China’s automobiles drops by 29.9 percentage points than that of first half year and is the lowest in the 13 years.

The growth rate of passenger vehicles is higher than the overall level and that of utility vehicles increase significantly. Sales volume of passenger vehicles is 14.472 million, up by 5.2% than that of the same period. Among that, sales volume of basic passenger vehicles (cars) is 10.123 million, up by 6.6% than that of the same period; Sales volume of MPV is 498,000 million, with a significant increasing of 11.7%, higher than that of the same period; Sales volume of SUV is 1.594 million, up by 20.2% than that of the same period; Sales volume of cross-type passenger vehicles is 2.258 million, drop by 9.4%.

Share of the small-displacement cars decreased slightly while own brand passenger vehicles fell. Sales volume of passenger vehicles of 1.6 liters or below is 9.838 million, up by 4% than that of the same period, 1.2 percentage points lower than the growth rate of passenger vehicles, amounted to 68% of the total volume of passenger vehicles and drop by 0.8 percentage point than that of the same period of the previous year. Sales volume of own brand passenger vehicles is 6.1122 million, drop by 2.6% than that of the same period. The real decreased rate of export sales volume domestically is 5.4% after the deduction. Sales volume of own brand passenger vehicles amounts to 42.2% of the total sales volume of passenger vehicles and 3.4 percentage points lower than the share of the previous year.

Sales volume of commercial vehicles shows a downward trend than that of the same period while bus market outshines others. Sales volume of commercial vehicles is 4.03 million, down by 6.3% than that of the same period; Sales volume of bus is 403,000, up by 13.3%; Sales volume of trucks is 2.702 million, down by 4.6% than that of the same period.
Sales volume of semitrailer tractor is 258,000, down by 27.4%; Sales volume of bus nonholonomic vehicles is 85,000, down by 2.8% while that of truck nonholonomic vehicles is 585,000, down by 13.3% than that of the same period.

Export of automobile hits record high while import grows faster. According to the statistics by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, export of automobile is 814,000 in 2011, up by 49.5%, 269,000 million more than that of the previous year and hits record high. The export of automobile amounts to 60.8% to the total growth of China’s automobile and has become a major force to drive the sales of vehicles this year. According to the statistics by Customs, import of China’s vehicles is 1.037 million, up by 27.8% than that of the same period.

Industry economic indicators continued to grow, and market concentration has increased. According to the statistics on 10,968 enterprises in vehicle industry made by CAAM, the industrial output totaled 4.47 trillion yuan form January to November, up by 16.8% than that of the same period. The top ten enterprises of vehicle sales are SAIC, Dongfeng, FAW, Changan, Beijing Auto, Guangzhou Automobile, Chery, Brilliance, Great Wall and JAC. 16.091 million cars were sold, accounting for 87% of the total industry, increased by 1 percentage point over the previous year.
