The prices of major farm produce monitored by MOFCOM saw a slight rise last week (January 2-8), while price of material for production was in the main stable.

The average price of 18 vegetables rose by 7.5% as compared with that of the previous week, of which cucumbers, green peppers, and rapes saw 21.7%, 19.2% and 10.5% rise respectively, and lettuces, chili peppers and eggplants rose by 10.2%, 9.7% and 8.6% respectively. The overall price of meat increased due to strong demand, of which pork, lamb, beef and chicken rose by 0.6%, 0.6%, 0.2% and 0.1% respectively. The average wholesale price of 8 main categories of aquatic products rose by 0.4%, 0.7 percentage points less than last week, of which yellow croaker, small cutlass fish and large cutlass fish rose by 1.7%, 1.2% and 1% respectively, while carp, grass carp and silver carp saw 1.7%, 0.2% and 1% price decrease respectively. The prices of grain and oil saw a slight rise, of which the prices of rice, peanut oil and rapeseed oil rose by 0.2%, 0.1% and 0.1% respectively, and wheat flour and soybean oil remain unchanged. The retail price of eggs was decreased slightly by 0.1%.

Of major material of production, the prices of rubber, building materials, steel and material for agricultural production fell, the price of material for light industry and chemical products remain unchanged, while the prices of minerals, energy resources and non-ferrous metals rose. Rubber and steel dropped by 0.4% and 0.3% respectively. The prices of building materials fell by 0.4%, of which glass kept falling for seven consecutive weeks, down by 1.7% as compared with the previous week, and dropped by 9.2% as compared with that of mid-November. The prices of minerals and non-ferrous metals rose by 0.1% and 0.6% respectively, and the price of energy resources rose by 0.1%, of which crude oil increased by 2.1%.
