Chinese Government Provided Disaster Relief for Quake-hit Myanmar


A violent earthquake hit northeastern Myanmar on March 24 and caused casualties and losses of property. The Chinese government decided to provide US$500,000 in cash for the disaster relief and post-disaster reconstruction for the Myanmar’s government. It is an expression of friendship between the Chinese government and people and Myanmar’s government and people.

Besides, Chinese Commerce Minister Chen Deming on March 26 sent a letter to U Soe Tha, Minister for National Planning and Economic Development of Myanmar, expressing his condolences to people in quake-hit areas. Minister Chen stated that China would provide Myanmar with any necessary help and wish people in quake-hit areas overcome difficulties and rebuild their homes soon.
