| Canton Fair Saw an Increase in Both Visitors and Transactions in the First Phase |

The first phase of the 106th China Import and Export Fair(Canton Fair)was successfully concluded on October 19, 2009, and both the number of overseas buyers and export turnover saw an increase. A total of 92,000 of overseas buyers attended the fair, up by 11.4% and 5.4% respectively compared with the Spring Session this year and the Autumn Session last year, and the total export turnover was USD 15.58 billion, up by 19.6% compared with the Spring Session this year, down 5.3% compared with the Autumn Session last year. Overseas buyers participated in the fair enthusiastically. Statistics show that the number of buyers from Asia, America and Oceania were 53,311, 12,058 and 2,750 respectively, up by 7.1%, 17.9% and 17.5% respectively than the Spring Session this year. The number of European buyers was 14,906, a big increase of 38.3% compared with the Spring Session, African buyers, 8,901, down 4.7%. The top five countries and regions in term of the number of visitors were: Hong Kong, with 10,661 visitors, Malaysia, 4,448, Iran, 4,211, the United States, 3,880, and Taiwan Province, 3,775. |
