 China Industry Products Exhibition (Venezuela), sponsored by MOFCOM, inaugurated in Caracas, Venezuela, on June 18. Lu Jianhua, Assistant Minister of Commerce, Zhang Tuo, Chinese Ambassador to Venezuela, and Mr. Eduardo•Salman, Venezuelan Minister of Commerce, cut ribbon at the inauguration and visited the exhibition. The Exhibition covers an area of over 3，000 square meters, and products on display included machinery equipment, agricultural machinery, automobiles and parts, electronic appliances, building materials, sanitary and plumbing materials, etc. Enterprises from China's province of Liaoning, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Hunan and Guangdong participated in the exhibition, and it is the first time for most of the enterprises to be in Venezuela for purpose of this exhibition. A Chinese culture show was also staged during the exhibition. Sino-Venezuela bilateral trade developed rapidly in recent years. From 2001 to 2008, bilateral trade volume grew from US$ 589 million to US$ 9.852 billion. Among which, trade in 2008 was up by 68.2%, the highest level in history. At present, Venezuela has become China’s fifth largest trading partner in Latin America, China is Venezuela’s fifth largest trading partner. Positive progress was achieved in bilateral cooperation in such key areas as energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and high-technology. |
