 Chen pointed out that after the Wenchuan quake, MOFCOM has promptly taken the emergency action according to the deployment of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council. According to the needs in the disaster-hit areas, MOFCOM has organized and allocated a large amount of rescue materials in nationwide scope and transported them to the said areas promptly by overcoming various difficulties. MOFCOM has also coordinated and accepted the assistance from a number of enterprises and international organizations, strongly supported the rescue and relief efforts. The current task still remains urgent, and we must waste no time in finding out the actual situation of the quake-stricken areas, take effective measures to gradually restore the commercial networks under the unified deployment of disaster rescue and relief, assist the quake-affected areas in coordinating and securing the materials and earnestly ensure the market supply of the said areas. On May 18, Chen rushed to the disaster-hit areas in Sichuan to learn the on-site situation, coordinating the market supply, reconstruction of the commercial infrastructure, etc. |
