MOFCOM issued a notice on May 13, requiring the local competent commercial departments in the disaster-stricken areas to try their best on disaster rescue and relief, as well as ensure the market supply. According to the notice, the local competent commercial departments in the disaster-stricken areas such as Sichuan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Yunnan, Chongqing, etc., should take action immediately, strengthen the organization and leadership, constituting meticulous schemes, secure materials promptly, try as best as they can to guarantee the market supply, keep the market steady and make great effort in minimizing the disaster affection on the market. It required the said departments to promptly launch the emergency scheme for the market supply in the disaster-affected areas, initiatively coordinate the relevant aspects of transportation, railway, aviation, etc, so as to ensure a clear way for the transportation of living necessities and disaster rescue and relief materials to the disaster-stricken areas. The needs for emergency materials should be well learned and reported immediately, such as instant food, drinking water, medicine, tents, warm and rainproof quilts and clothes, lighting facilities, excavation tools, etc. The daily monitoring system for living necessities should be launched. The market supply and price of the living necessities and emergency rescue materials should be mastered by learning from the wholesale and retail enterprises, do a good job of market forecast and analysis. On the same day, MOFCOM also required the said departments to strengthen market monitoring, ensure steady market, implement emergency rescue materials, allocate living necessities, transport the materials to the disaster-stricken areas including food, drinking water, medicine, tents, warm clothes and quilts, and do a good job of the market supply in the disaster-affected areas. |
