| Minister of Commerce Chen Deming Deploys Disaster Relief Work |

On the morning of May 13, Minister of Commerce Chen Deming chaired a meeting to deliver the important instructions of the CPC Central Committee and State Council on doing a good job in the comprehensive deployments of disaster relief. Chen expressed that all the staff of MOFCOM should take action promptly according to the demand of the CPC Central Committee and the deployments of the Earthquake Disaster Relief Commanding Headquarters, give top priority to disaster relief, actively develop all kinds of work, go all out in supporting the disaster relief and guarantee the market supply in the disaster-stricken areas. Chen said that MOFCOM has promptly launched the emergency mechanism after the earthquake disaster took place, and set up an emergency leading group. It has taken a series of emergency measures, including contacting the local competent commercial departments in Shanhai, Tianjin, Henan, Hubei, Chongqing, etc. for the supply of daily living necessities such as candle, electric torch, battery, instant noodle, bottled water, etc. Now the relevant goods have been started to be delivered to the disaster-stricken areas. Chen pointed out that more attention must be paid to the monitoring of the market supply in the disaster-stricken areas, guide commercial enterprises to secure supplies, enrich inventory and guarantee the supply of living necessities such as rice, meat, egg, vegetable, edible oil, etc. All the relevant departments of MOFCOM should take the emergency mechanism of 24-hour on duty, so as to keep in touch with the local competent commercial departments in the disaster-affected areas and allocate goods according to the actual needs. |
