On Nov 20, Premier Wen Jiabao met with Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, during his participation of ASEAN summit in Singapore. They agreed that the first session of Sino-Japanese high-level economic dialogue would be held in Beijing on Nov 20, 2007. MOFCOM spokesman said that the key mission of this dialogue mechanism included three respects. Firstly, views on economic developing strategy and macro economic policy should be interchanged, so as to deepen mutual understanding. Secondly, economic cooperation for multi-department should be coordinated and the common concerned significant issue in cooperation should be discussed. Finally, policy communication on economic issue in key area and the world should be strengthened, with the aim of promoting broader cooperation. In order to fulfill the reached important consensus, the first session will discuss the way of setting up a strategic mutual beneficial relationship in economy and trade, as well as the seeking for the goal of realizing joint development and prosperity. Under the joint effort made by China and Japan, the relationship between the two nations developed normally since 2006. Important consensuses were reached in building Sino-Japanese strategic beneficial relationship, which in turn set the basic direction of the two nations. And the relationship was now confronting with a great developing opportunity. A favorable trade and economic cooperation formed with mutual beneficial, complementary and reciprocal situation, as well as a win-win state. In Jan-Oct, 2007, the bilateral trade maintained rising tendency. Import and export volume reached USD191.89 billion, up by 14% y-o-y. Japan remained China’s third largest trade partner. According to Japanese figure, China had surpassed US to become the largest trade partner of Japan. It is the 35th anniversary of normalization of Sino-Japanese diplomatic relations this year. It is a symbol of holding the talks that economic cooperative mechanism between the two nations has been improved to a higher level. It is as well as a positive result achieved in relationship reforming and developing. Strategic and mutual reciprocal ties will be boosted and a good relationship will be developed. |
