On September 25, Minister of Commerce Bo xilai and Indonesian Minister of Trade Mari Pangestu co-chaired the Ninth meeting of China-Indonesia Economic Joint Committee in Shanghai. The two ministers noted the sound development of bilateral economic and trade ties. Minister Bo pointed out that China had become the 4th biggest trade partner of Indonesia, and the trade volume between two countries for the first eight months of this year had jumped 37% to 16.37 billion US dollars. It was especially notable that electronic and machinery products had accounted for 23% of Chinese imports from Indonesia, Minister Bo said. Minister Feng expressed strong confidence in china-Indonesia economic relations. Cooperation had widened and deepened in areas like energy, electronics, automobile, and infrastructure building, Feng observed, while the absence of major conflicts made a smooth and steady development of bilateral ties possible. Indonesia welcomed more Chinese investment, and was also willing to facilitate Chinese enterprises’ participation in Indonesian infrastructure building, Feng said. The Two sides held an extensive exchange of opinions on issues concerning economic and trade cooperation. |
