Morocco Becomes Biggest Importer of Chinese Green Tea
Moroccan News Agency reported that Morocco has surpassed Japan and Russia and become the biggest importer of Chinese green tea。

In 2006, Morocco imported 565,000 tons of green tea from China, which valued at 110 million USD and realized a 7% increase over the previous year. Since the opening of the Moroccan tea-leaf market in 2003, imports of tea-leafs from China has been on a steady increase over the past several years. Currently, 98% of green tea in Moroccan market is from China.

Moroccan people like drinking tea as much as the Chinese people do. Statistics shows that Moroccan per capita consumption of tea-leaf per year is 1.76 kilograms.

But there is one difference between the Chinese people and the Moroccan people concerning their preference of tea. Moroccan people prefer sweet mint tea, which is green tea mixed with mint leaf and white sugar.
