MOU on Cooperation of Boosting Rural Retailing Development Signed by MOFCOM and P&G

Memorandum of understanding on cooperation of boosting Project of Rural Retailing Development in Zhenzhou was singed by MOFCOM and P&G on April 26. This is the first time of MOFCOM to signed MOU on such issue with world well-known supplier.

According to the MOU, MOFCOM shall recommend the project purchaser alliance and undertaken enterprise to P&G China, set up cooperative platform between them through organizing biz-matching on rural commodities at proper time. In addition, the undertaken enterprises will be monitored, supervised and urged to fulfill its commitment of selling no fake products by the ministry.

To introduce its first class dealer to the alliance and undertaken enterprises, P&G China will set up pilot places in Henan and Anhui provinces firstly, as well as to provide favorable supplement, trade service and preferential price to them and vigorously absorb the conditional ones to become the first class dealer. Once the success gained in the pilot places, the pattern shall be expanded to six central China’s provinces including Henan, Anhui, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi and Shanxi, as well as other provinces and cities.

Director Chang Xiaocun of Department of Market System Development said that China’s rural population accounted for 2/3 of total currently while the consumption only occupied 1/3, so that rural market had a large potential. It was the key path of drawing domestic need and promoting economic growth through expanding rural consumption. Fulfillment of the Project aimed to boost market system development in rural are, set up modern distribution network and meet the ever-increasing need of farmers in consumption. In use of the project P&G could explore rural market through the process of exploring proper products meeting the need of China’s rural area, optimizing supplying chain management, reducing distribution cost and providing all kinds of training and service. While the farmers gained fine quality and cheap commodity, real win-win situation could be reached and as a result the consumption got safer, more convenient and beneficial. Henceforth, MOFCOM should continue expanding rural market system development, further improve distribution network and set up a broader platform for selling fine quality industrial product in rural area.

P&G China vice chief executive Ke Ruisi expressed that the company would vigorously support the Project that Chinese government carried out to develop rural development. He hoped that fine quality P&G products and service could go into more Chinese consumers’ life.
