| Enterprises Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair of China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries of 2006 Successfully Held |

An enterprises Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair of China and Portuguese-speaking country of 2006 was successfully held jointly by ICEP, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) in Lisbon. This Fair was another activity to enhance the cooperation and communication among the membership enterprises, in accordance with the “Agreement on Promoting Institutions Cooperation by Chamber of Commerce and Trade” signed on the first ministerial conference of Macaw Forum. More than 400 entrepreneurs and representatives from China, Macaw and seven other Portuguese-speaking countries attended the opening ceremony. The attendees highly appraised the great achievements made to promote the economic and trade cooperation between China and Portuguese- speaking countries by the forum. And they also expected to further strengthen mutual relationship, enlarge mutual communication and expand a wider cooperation space among China mainland, Macaw and Portuguese-speaking countries through the opportunities offered by the Fair. Representatives of Promotion Institution of all countries introduced their native opportunities of investment and trade on the opening ceremony. Representatives of Portugal banking made special speeches on the affections made by financial institutions during helping China and Portuguese- speaking countries to carry out economic and trade cooperation. The sponsors organized more than 620 negotiating meetings during the conference. More than 275 enterprises attended the conference, of which 152 from Portugal and 123 from China Mainland, Macaw and other Portuguese- speaking countries. The atmosphere of the conference was lively and great achievements gained by all the countries. It was declared at the closing ceremony that this Fair held in Lisbon played a significant role in enhancing the economic and trade relationship and cooperation among the attending countries and made an active affection in promoting mutual trade. On the closing ceremony, ICEP signed the agreement of establishing Portugal trade center in Macaw, as well as the agreement of establishing distributional center of Portugal product in China with IPIM and Macaw, Nanguang Group. The next Fair will be held in 2007 and the site of it will be decided on the second session ministerial conference of the Forum on China and Portuguese-speaking Country Economic and Trade Cooperation. source: Network Center of MOFCOM |
