Over 2000 Franchise operations in China Top in the World

It was learnt from China Franchise Association that by the end of 2004, the number of franchise operation broke through 2000, top in the world.

Blue Paper of 2005 Franchise Development in China, released by China Franchise Association on April 11, showed that since the mid 1990’s franchise had been promoted in our country and went into high development period after 2000. By the end of 2004, the number of franchise stores reached 120 thousand, with 1.8 million staff, 600 thousand jobs newly increased in 2004. China became a fast developing and potential market and was concerned by investors and foreign franchise operators.

Blue Paper revealed that franchise stores increase by 38% in 2004, comparatively mature enterprises slowed to develop franchise stores. From that we could see most franchise enterprises attached importance to reasonable development, endeavored to strengthen competitiveness instead of increased franchise stores in quantity.

Blue Paper showed franchise in our country involved in 50 sectors. Viewing from development trend of franchise sector and investors’ focus, such ten sectors as convenience store, auto maintenance, decoration, housing intermediate, education and training, beauty and healthcare, catering, laundry, clothing and books and audio-video products were investing focus.

Blue Paper pointed out problems still existed in franchise. For franchisers, the problems were managing system was weak, which was under construction in most franchise enterprises; marketing theory and method was not advanced. For franchisees, their understanding for franchise was not enough, and their conscious of risk and law was waiting to improve. The franchise market was not standardized.

It was learnt that the 7th China Franchise Fair, sponsored by China Franchise Association, would be held on May 13 in Beijing.
