 After the earthquake of Wenchuan Sichuan, Shenzhen city immediately deployed the relief work and mobilized with powerful, scientific and orderly command, which represented the special zone spirit that when disaster strikes, help comes from all sides. As of yesterday, the whole city had contributed RMB320m with necessities of more than 1.37m articles (boxes) via Shenzhen Charity Association and Red Cross Society. It was known that after the tremor, all walks of life in Shenzhen proactively donated cash and goods, and as of May 20, Shenzhen Charity Association and Red Cross Society had accumulatively collected RMB320m and 1373458 articles (boxes) including cotton-padded clothes, quilts, tents, and foods. Donated medicine and medical equipment from enterprises were worth RMB44.13m. Currently, Shenzhen Charity Association has mailed RMB102m to disaster-hit areas. Moreover, citizens successively came to blood donation places and buses to donate blood in high spirits. The hotlines of blood donation in Shenzhen blood center were very busy, and the reserve capacity of blood Shenzhen blood center and its two regional blood center had reached the saturation. Yesterday, Shenzhen sent 4000 bags of plasma to disaster-hit areas. |
