It was introduced by the related responsible person from the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee that some Hong Kong and overseas compatriots proactively donated via China Overseas Friendship Association and the relief donations as well as goods to Sichuan quake-hit areas totaled RMB23m. After the hardest quake in Wenchuan Sichuan, most of Hong Kong and overseas compatriots were much concerned about the disaster situation, worried about the safety of people in disaster-hit areas and donated generously in succession to proactively dedicate their strength for quake relief. Among them, some members of CPPCC, Wu Guangzheng, director of China Overseas Friendship Association, and chairman of Wharf (Holdings) Ltd., Chen Jianhe, president of Singapore RGMI, Li Yuling, chairman of US BERJAYA , Eastern America Association of Chinese Communities as well as its chairman Liang Guanjun collected the relief donations of HK$10m, RMB2m, USD200,000 and relief goods worth RMB10m in all. |
