Be of one mind in gathering love strength. By May 18, donations for relief from all walks of life in Hong Kong had reached more than HK$1b. Among them, central government liaison office in Hong Kong collected a donation of more than HK$400m. Currently, all institutes and organizations participate in relief activities consecutively by different means and common citizens also contribute money in succession to jointly dedicate love to Sichuan quake-hit areas. Recently, apart from some businessmen’s donations, more than one hundred entertainers also took part in donation programs and collected HK$200m. Moreover, some groups and volunteer organizations successively sent thousands of volunteers to streets and lanes to collect money. Some Hong Kong citizens expressed while donating, “it is our duty to give a hand when inland compatriots meet disasters as people in Hong Kong and inland compatriots are of one blood.” |
