CPC sums up work vowing to promote economic reform, energy efficiency

BEIJING -- The top CPC organ on Friday confirmed its achievements made in the past year in promoting economic reform, environmental protection, energy saving, innovation and many other aspects.

The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of Communist Party of China (CPC) held a meeting here Friday, chaired by Chinese President Hu Jintao, discussing its performance since the Sixth Plenary Session of the 16th CPC Central Committee last October.

According to a press release, the Party will further reforms to change the pattern of economic growth and adjust the economic structure while carrying on the opening-up policy.

More government investment will go to the countryside to improve the agricultural infrastructure and living facilities, the statement said.

Energy efficiency and environmental protection will stay on the top of the country's agenda to realize the goal of building an eco-friendly society.

The CPC will expand citizens' participation in political affairs in an orderly way to encourage the public to contribute more creativeness and efforts to the country, the statement said.

More efforts will be made in education, employment, social insurance, healthcare and housing for low-wage families as well as the cultural sector, it said.

The Party will also work harder to prevent and curb corruption and solve every problem that matters to the people's interests, the statement said.
