BEIJING, Sept. 28 -- Chinese share prices closed 2.17 percent higher in the morning session on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rising to 5.526.54 points. The Shenzhen Component Index on the small stock exchange market rose 2.91 percent to close at 18,813.38 points. The property sector led the market, after the central government announced a new policy late Thursday to improve management of housing loans and to stabilize housing prices. Most property developers saw their share prices rise around three percent, with Wanke Group, China's largest real estate company, up 2.97 percent. China Oilfield Service Limited, the country's leading offshore oilfield service provider, opened at 35 yuan per share on its first trading day, 159 percent higher than the initial public offering price. |
