Hong Kong had become the global second largest IPO market. It reached a historic peak for mainland enterprises to raise funds in Hong Kong. From 1993 to date, the mainland enterprises listed in Hong Kong had already reached more than 300, with total financing of USD200b. Henry Tang, Hong Kong Financial Secretary had openly said that in the first five months this year, the turnover of Hong Kong equities amounted to HKD5 trillion, more than the turnover of the whole year of 2,005. Hong Kong market was not only the market of Hong Kong people, but one accepted by global investors. Statistics revealed that the mainland enterprises listed in Hong Kong reached 145, of which the number of Chinese-invested companies issuing H shares was 113, clearly increased after the return of Hong Kong, accounting for nearly 50% market share. Red chips therein approached 60% in the trading volume of Hong Kong stock market. |
