| Increase Rate of Foreign Trade of Sichuan ranked NO.1 Nationally in Jan through Jun |

In Jan through Jun this year, import and export of Sichuan amounted to US$4.793 billion with a year-on-year increase of 39.2% that was ranked No.1 nationally. Of which import was US$2.041 billion with a year-on-year increase of 52.3% that was ranked No.2 nationally; export reached US$2.751 billion with a year-on-year growth of 30.8% that was ranked No.5 nationally. In June, export amounted to US$545 million, the highest monthly export in history. As from March this year, Sichuan’s foreign trade and its growth rate all exceeded national average. There are following features in foreign trade of Sichuan during the first half-year: first, import's growth rate outpaced export's and both import and export of processing trade grew. During the first half year of 2006, Sichuan's import's growth rate outpaced its export's growth rate at 21.5 percentage points, the first time since October 2004; increase rate of export and import of processing trade was 68.1% and 72.6% respectively, over 20 percentage rate higher than national average rates. Second, export share of private enterprises was up, foreign contracting projects promoted the maintaining development of export. Third, export structure was optimized and heavy equipments export was favorable. Electromechanical products and high-tech products export amounted to US$1.053 billion and US$380 million respectively in the first half year. (Network Center of MOFCOM) |
