| Increase Rate of Exports in Shaanxi Province Ranking Top Nationally for 4 Months Running |

In the first half year, the growth rate of Shaanxi's foreign trade was higher than that of national average, and ranked top nationally for 4 months running. In Jan. through June, total imports and exports of the Province amounted to US$2.23 billion, up by 40.6% (national growth to be 23.2%), accomplishing 53.2% of the annual target which was US$4.2 billion. The imports got rid off the unfavorable situation that grew at a lower level for a long time and even decreased and the recovery occurred with a rate of above 20%. In the first half year, foreign trade of Shaanxi Province kept the tendency of big growth and scales of foreign trade expanded step by step. Since 2002, scales of imports and exports of Shaanxi Province, imports in particular, expanded gradually and maintained a growth rate of near 30%. Export volume went up to No. 18 in the nation and No. 2 in western region from No. 21 in the nation and No.4 in western region in 2001. Imports and exports obviously contributed to the upgrade of industrial structure in the Province, increase of employment and the driving of macro economy.
