Two-week activitiy of Europe tour to attract investment, Chen Zhenggao, mayor of Shenyang brought back a good present for people of Shenyang that the Sino-Europe economic summit would be probably held in Shenyang in October this year. More and more good news indicated that the rapid economic development of Shenyang not only aroused interest of domestic cities and a great deal of Asian countries, but also attracted attention of the business circles of five countries, such as German, Holland, Belgium and France. It was a great success of this Europe tour that “Intention for Sino-Europe Economic Summit in Shenyang in October 2005” was signed between delegation of Shenyang municipal government and a Germany company. According to the intention that the two sides have reached, when the time comes, political leaders of 25 European Union members and more than 300 representatives from transnational company will gather in Shenyang to participate in the economic summit. Relevant economic expert says that Sino-Europe economic summit in Shenyang will be unprecedented to improve Shenyang’s reputation in European Union countries. And it is more important that the long-term influence that the economic summit brings will promote the cooperation in economy and trade between Shenyang and European Union greatly and make the cooperation and exchange closer. To guarantee Sino-Europe economic summit to be held successively, Shenyang government has already begun the positive preparation. The main work is to eliminate the difficulty of long distance among different places. Relevant department of Shenyang said that in April 2005, China Eastern Airlines Cooperation Limited will open a new route from Shenyang to Paris and London via Shanghai, which will further promote the cooperation between Shenyang and Europe. In addition, the municipal government of Shenyang and German Industry and Commerce have already reached a cooperative intention to set up a Germany industry zone covering an area of 5 square kilometers, to which the industrial and commercial branches of Berlin, Stuttgart and Dusseldorf give active response.
