Imports and Exports of Taiwan in the First 11 Months Exceeded US$300 Billion

According to Taiwan's media, financial department of Taiwan recently announced that in Nov. exports were US$15.51 billion and imports US$14.94 billion, up by 12.5% and 20.7% respectively. Meanwhile, total exports amounted to US$159.1 billion in the first 11 months with an increase of 22.3%, of which imports were more than US$151.9 billion, up by 33.2% and trade surplus were US$7.26 billion, down by 54.9% compared with the same period of last year. Xu Guozhong, leader of statistics of Taiwan financial department, said that it was predicted the export growth rate in 2005 would be 7.4% and import growth rate only 5.8% because of the influence of international environment and high base figure of imports and exports in 2004.
