It is estimated from the People’s Bank of China, the continuously rising CPI would be up in the second quarter, but it would be sliding down in the second half year. In the first quarter of 2004, the accumulative CPI is up by 2.8%, 2.3% higher than of the same period of previous year in growth rate, and 0.1% higher than the fourth quarter of 2003. CPI is up by 3% in March 2004. Of which, foodstuff is up by 2.6%, non-foodstuff up by 0.4%. The pressure of inflation was amounting in the first quarter under the impact of various factors. Currently, our price rise in primary products is higher than the middle-linked products, and middle-linked products higher than the finished products, which will cause the inflation pressure.
