The central bank set the mid-point of the yuan's exchange rate against the dollar at 6.8271 on Monday. The yuan's traded peak of 6.8103 was reached this past Wednesday. The yuan's appreciation continued last week, but traders say it might slow down in the following weeks.According to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System, the yuan ended at 6.8169 against the US dollar on Friday, stronger than it was a week earlier at 6.8354. Despite the week-on-week appreciation, the central parity rate of the yuan did see a slowdown on Thursday and Friday, triggering some thoughts that the yuan's appreciation could slow down in the future. |
