China stresses fair play in foreign acquisition of domestic companies

BEIJING, April 11 (Xinhua) -- China will encourage foreign investment and on the other hand protect the rights and interests of Chinese businesses in disputes over foreign mergers and acquisitions, a spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce said Wednesday.
Spokesman Wang Xinpei made the remark at a routine press conference when asked to comment on the soured relationship between domestic beverage company Wahaha and its business partner, French food giant Danon.
