SHENYANG, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Michelin, the world's leading tire maker, is expanding its tire production center in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, and aims to turn it into the world's largest tire base, according to sources with the Liaoning Provincial government Friday.
A government official said that a memorandum has been signed with Michelin covering new truck tire and sedan tire projects.
When the two projects are implemented, the Shenyang base will produce 12 billion tires annually, and become the world's largest tire production base.
Michelin has already invested 150 million US dollars in its Shenyang plant, and will plough in a further 300 million US dollars for the two new projects, which will cover 300,000 square meters of floor space.
