MOFCOM BJT
Q: On April 23, the European Union announced its 20th package of sanctions against Russia, which adds Chinese companies to the list. What is China’s comment?
A: Despite China’s repeated representations and opposition, the EU has arbitrarily included Chinese companies in its 20th package of sanctions against Russia. China strongly deplores and firmly opposes this move.
China has reiterated on multiple occasions its firm opposition to unilateral sanctions without the authorization of the UN Security Council, and resolutely opposes the EU’s so-called long-arm jurisdiction against Chinese companies and individuals. The EU’s move runs counter to the consensus reached by the leaders of China and the EU, severely undermines mutual trust and the overall China-EU relations. China urges the EU to immediately remove Chinese companies and individuals from the sanction lists, adhere to the consensus reached by leaders of the two sides, and seek to resolve respective concerns through dialogue and consultation. China will take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies, and all the consequences arising therefrom will be borne by the EU side.
