MOFCOM Spokesperson’s Remarks on the U.S. Decision to Add Foreign-Made Drones and Components to its Covered List

Q: Recently, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced that it will add all foreign-made unmanned aircraft systems and their critical components to its Covered List. What is your comment?

A: China firmly opposes the U.S. practice of adding all foreign-made unmanned aircraft systems and their critical components to its Covered List under the pretext of so-called national security. In recent years, ignoring the normal commercial transactions and trade exchanges between Chinese and U.S. companies, and disregarding the strong objections of industries in both countries, the U.S. has repeatedly overstretched the concept of national security and used state power to suppress companies from other countries, including Chinese enterprises. This constitutes typical market distortion and unilateral bullying.

China urges the U.S. to cease its erroneous practices and immediately revoke the relevant measures. Should the U.S. persist in this course of action, China will resolutely take all necessary measures to firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
