On 5 February 2025, in the presence of President Xi Jinping and President Sadyr Zaparov of Kyrgyzstan, Minister of Commerce of China Wang Wentao and Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Sydykov signed the Joint Statement between the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic on the Launching of Negotiations for the Agreement on Trade in Services and Investment in Beijing.

Going forward, the two sides will, on the basis of full consultations, carry out negotiations on market access, rule-making and other relevant issues in the areas of trade in services and investment, with a view to reaching a comprehensive, high-level agreement consistent with the principles of the WTO, so as to further unleash the potential of bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation, raise the level of liberalization and facilitation of trade and investment between the two countries, and play a positive role in the promotion of bilateral economic and trade relations.
